Raffles presented the collections of eight young Raffles fashion designers from Jakarta, Singapore and Sydney in Jakarta Fashion Week 2014. 48 garments were exhibited and received plaudits for their uniqueness and creativity.

To open the show, Ivon Limadhy, who recently graduated from Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design from Raffles Jakarta, showed four pieces from “Libery Fatali” showcasing design dominated by leather and unique embellishment followed immediately by “Punk Paradox” by Claudya Marthen, who used rock & roll inspiration to design leather-studded jackets combined with graphic patterned pieces along with matching transparent cases.  Peggy Hartanto, alumnus of Raffles Sydney, presented “Quantum”, her classy 2014 Spring/Summer collection with ruffles detail and see-through material.

Meanwhile, Lusiana Liauw brought a very feminine vibe to the show through her floral pattern and froufrou combined in with stone embellishment. Then Catherine Soepadhi’s “ABOCS”, drove us into a sweet winter with her collection with dominating fur for menswear and, pleat and lace in womenswear. The next sequence displayed a futuristic avant-garde collection named “Past Lessons | Future Protection” from Maria Valentine Lidya, who transformed clear plastic material into creative-futuristic wardrobe with pixelated weaving pattern. Taking inspiration from ice crystal, Daniella Grace’s “Diamond Dust” collection exhibited four romantic pieces in white as ice and transparent as crystal. Steffie Setiawan closed the show with the houndstooth pattern nicely carried out in a long jacket and tweed blazer extending our stay in the realm of winter.

Ivon Limadhy, Claudia Marthen, Maria Valentine Lydia, Daniela Grace, students of second year of Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design showed the extent of their skills in Jakarta Fashion Week 2014 side by side with other famous Indonesian designers. The international crowd and media were astonished by these great and talented alumnus of Raffles Institute of Higher Education and Raffles fashion show got reviews from the American, European and Australian media showing the growth of Jakarta as a fashion capital, and Raffles at its finest.
