BALI FIELD TRIP
Bali's Interior and Architecture design reflects a captivating blend of tradition, spirituality, and natural beauty. Rooted in Balinese Hinduism and influenced by various cultural exchanges over centuries, Bali's architectural style exudes a unique charm that resonates with locals and international visitors alike. One of the most striking features of Balinese design is its emphasis on harmony with nature. Balinese interior design often incorporates sustainable design elements and traditional craftsmanship, connecting to the island's landscape.
Raffles Year 1 and Year 2 Interior Designers conducted a study tour and field trip to better observe how designers integrate contemporary design elements with traditional Balinese culture. Guided by Raffles Interior Design Lecturer Mr. Ned Ronsairo and Ms. Mia Kuntohadi, participants toured the best-developed areas in Bali: Uluwatu, Ubud, Canggu, and Seminyak.
Highlights of this trip include a tour of the Award-Winning Rimba Jimbaran by Ayana Resort, which is celebrated for its breathtaking design and seamlessly integrates contemporary elements with traditional Balinese influences. Raffles Lecturer Mr. @Rezkyafriza was one of the project architects.
Another memorable workshop experience was the model and life-size construction workshop conducted by Bamboo U, IBUKU, the creators of the Bali Green School campus, learning about sustainable materials and design construction.
Other notable site visits were to Titik Dua, designed by renowned Indonesian architect Andra Matin; The Iron Fairies, designed by Ashley Sutton Design; and Starbucks Reserve Dewata, designed by Bitte Design Studio.
