REVERIE by
Abigail Vina SAFANADRI
"Reverie," the graduation collection by Raffles Fashion Designer Abigail Vina SAFANADRI (Gale Atelier), draws inspiration from the timeless novella Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Through this collection, Abigail delves into themes of innocence, childhood wonder, love, and the intricate layers of human relationships.
The graduation collection is part of the Year 3 Fashion Design Major Studio Project, a transformative experience that challenges students to craft and refine their individual design identity. With a focus on innovation, technical mastery, and craftsmanship, this project encourages students to push the boundaries of fashion design, blending creativity with the latest technological advancements.
Students are tasked with creating a fashion collection of 8 cohesive looks centered around a common theme. This allows for the exploration of personal narratives, inspiration, and ideas that reflect their unique design perspective, offering an opportunity to showcase both conceptual depth and technical skill.
The collection, Reverie, captures the dreamlike essence of Le Petit Prince, drawing on the whimsical and poetic imagery from the story. Influenced by the delicate interplay between the earth and the sky, the stars, and the pure wonder of childhood, the design narrative evokes both fantasy and reality. Abigail's vision weaves together the Little Prince's journey across planets and his encounters with unforgettable characters, creating a collection that blends fantastical elements with modern, contemporary silhouettes. Through a harmonious balance of imagination and craftsmanship, Reverie invites the viewer to experience the magic of this timeless tale reinterpreted for the modern world.
